Making Memories in June-- Weddings, Corporate Parties, and Non-Profits, Oh My!

Dearest Readers,

I know, I know, we keep teasing you with our wonderful blog posts (for which I’m sure you all wait in eager anticipation) and then leave you hanging for months without sharing even a bit of all of the exciting events that Pierpont Place and Premier Event Services have hosted this year! I’m sure you’ve all been devastated these last few months without our updates and all of the incredible event photos, but don’t despair, my lovely readers—we’re back and blogging! And let me tell you…you’re in for a treat!!

There’s just something about the summer sun that inspires me to stay busy and have fun…and I guess I’m not the only one! Our flurry of events last week at Pierpont Place prove that summer is a great time to celebrate, have fun, and make memories! Being so busy isn’t anything new for us, but what we really love about the group of occasions last week is that they gave us a chance to show off the true versatility of our venue as we transformed the space from a non-profit awards dinner to a rockin’ corporate party to a chic wedding…all in just a few days! Do I have your attention yet? Let’s take a look at just a few examples of the summer fun going on at Salt Lake's Premier Event Venue!!

We were so honored to jump start our busy streak by hosting the Salt Lake Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for their 2012 Awards and Board Installation Banquet!

I’ll tell you, Salt Lake City, we sure are lucky—you would not BELIEVE all of the amazing women that live and work here in our midst. (We’re even luckier! Our owner Janice Boes was just named one of Utah’s Women to Watch!) NAWBO’s mission is to “propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide.” Sounds good to me! If there’s ever a right time to say it, this is it… GIRL POWER!

As the evening sun streamed in the windows at this simple yet elegant awards banquet, NAWBO kicked off its upcoming year by installing its board—including, by the way, Pierpont Place’s very own Janice Boes as the new President Elect! If you didn’t know before, you do now…she’s kind of a big deal.

Awards were given to a handful of inspiring women business owners: Celeste Gleave, President/CEO of FYVE STAR, Inc, received the 2012 Woman Business Owner of the Year Award in recognition of her business success and her commitment to giving back to women in her community. Two honoree awards were given to Julie Jakob and Mary Scott, and Karin Palle received the Rising Star Award. For more information about these awards and the amazing women who received them, see NAWBO’s press release! Ladies (and gentlemen too, I suppose!), these are the kind of women to look up to!

As we all enjoyed bar service and a delicious meal with (get excited) Girl Scout Cookies for dessert (YUM!), we also listened attentively to an inspiring speech from keynote speaker Dr. Susan Madsen, a professor of leadership and ethics at Utah Valley University. Dr. Madsen reminded us all that leadership comes from within and encouraged female leaders to use their experiences to empower and mentor others.

After all of the stories of growth, support, success and love from these beautiful and successful women, I’ve just got to give a shout out to all of you lovely ladies out there in cyberspace—take a minute to appreciate yourself and the inspiring women in your life!!

As soon as the last of the NAWBO attendees left Pierpont Place, our dedicated staff sprang into motion to transform the venue for the epic party scheduled for the next night. We pulled out ALL the stops for Verisk Health’s merrymaking, giving Pierpont Place a makeover with a modern, elegant, and tech-y theme. Picture this… soft blue lighting, glowing (and I don’t mean just shiny, literally glowing) coffee tables in secluded lounges, a top shelf open bar complete with “flair bartending” (just imagine bottles spinning and flying in the air), ice sculptures, a fountain with multicolored lights… are you impressed yet, or should I keep going? Just in case your imagination isn’t doing it justice, check out a couple of the photos we took that night!

You all know that I can’t talk about an event without talking about the food, and Verisk’s event hosted a full-on FEAST! I could have spend the whole night going from one table to the next just to sample their amazing hors d’oeuvres… paninis with salami, ham and turkey, beef tenderloin on crostinis, delicious meatballs covered in a tantalizing gorgonzola cheese, bacon-wrapped shrimp…and so, SO many more. (By the way, when I say “I could have spent the whole night eating hors d’oeuvres,” really what I mean is “I did spend the whole night eating hors d’oeuvres.”) I absolutely don’t regret it, except that it meant that I was too full to enjoy one of my favorites…the pasta bar, where you can choose your own pasta and your preferred toppings, and watch as the chef makes it sizzle right in front of you and serves it to you piping hot! Delightful!

As Verisk clients and employees ate, drank, and schmoozed amongst themselves, we all grooved to some fabulous live music by a hot local trio, and I got the opportunity to talk with Shane, one of Verisk’s marketing team. He explained (in layman’s terms, thank goodness!) that the Verisk Health provides software and analytical services to health insurance companies, and that the office located here in South Jordan deals specifically with payment accuracy and fraud prevention. I got to hear a little bit about Verisk’s recent acquisition of MediConnect Global (get the details here), a merging that will help Verisk to rebrand itself as more full-service in providing data, analytics, and risk management to its clients in the healthcare industry. It looks like the company is growing quickly, and clearly doing great work! Lucky for us, though, Verisk Health plays as hard as they work!

What a fantastic party—thanks Verisk! We hope you loved it as much as we did!!!

We stayed up late and had a great time that night, but we weren’t done yet! Congratulations to Alex Evans and Casey Krug, who celebrated their wedding ceremony and reception at Pierpont Place on Saturday, June 23rd!!! I’ve got to say, a cuter couple could not have been found in Salt Lake City on this day.

Our incredibly talented wedding coordinators worked with Casey (one of the most prepared brides ever!) to create a “shabby-chic” theme for the wedding… SO creative! Whitewashed doors flanked the altar, the seating chart was written on windowpanes, and there was an old-fashioned typewriter by the front door for guests to try their hand at writing sweet notes for the bride and groom (with no backspace key)!

The wildflower and white orchid table arrangements and the burlap table runners and chair ties gave the wedding and reception a carefree and fun feeling, and the atmosphere of the entire event was just plain happy!

The quirkiness and creativity didn’t end with the decorations…it extended to the ceremony itself! Included in the wedding party were the bride and groom’s dogs, who preceded the beautiful bride down the aisle to the tune of Michael Buble’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

At the reception, guests enjoyed the food at a taco bar with their choice of tofu or beef and toppings, and specialty drinks while playing board games (note to us: board game table, a huge hit!). Next, they were running around the venue using disposable cameras to complete the photography scavenger hunt and help the bride and groom capture the moments that the professional photographer might miss. All in all, an absolutely fabulous ceremony and reception for an adorable, happy, and very in-love couple.

Congrats to Casey and Alex, and thanks for letting us share your special day with you!

Keeping Busy in January : eXperticity - the Undisputed eXperts & Rottefella - Our Kind of Fellas!

Happy President's Day Weekend, My Dear Readers!

Our January is always a huge hit...we usually double, triple, or octuple-book ourselves for multiple weekends in January. What can we say? Utah, our fine Utah, furnishes us the entertainment by bringing us the Sundance Film Festival, one of our 2 Outdoor Retailers Annual Conventions (come back, come back!!!), epic snowstorms (okay, maybe not this year...YET!), and a slew of domestic and international travelers coming to see our glorious state.
We LOVE this flurry of activity...our only wish is that it would continue throughout the year, keeping us flush in celebrities, genius sports equipment promoters, and stellar food and drink Monday through Sunday!
In true Pierpont Place and Premier Event Services' style, we hosted a plethora of STUNNING events for all of these great party-makers this year!

For a one night fiasco to kick off our January 2012, we welcomed two incredible Outdoor Retailers parties in one night.

At Pierpont Place we had our favorite neighbors: The local and newly branded eXperticity (previously SwarmBuilder), along with the children companies 3point5 and ProMotive - for a Outdoor Retailers after party with a theme of pure delicacy! Tunes spinning with DJ Fonik all night long -- he kept us on our feet and moving to the beat while enjoying all that this party had to offer!

High West Distillery, local to Park City, brought down some extremely delicious specialty drinks to pair with their trademark whiskey and vodka, served only in highest stylings through an ice decanter...we keep things chilly for eXperticity! Milcreek coffee provided some sensational chocolates...a perfect combination with High West whiskey if you ask me! But not quite enough, because on the other side of the table we had "High West Whiskey and Cheese" giving us some of Utah's homegrown (or home-churned) cheeses: Beehive Cheese's lavender and espresso flavored cheddar, Snowy Mountain Sheep's Blue, and Gold Creek Farms Smoked Cheddar. I'm sure you can't blame me....I chose to hover around this table the whole night!

So are you drooling yet?? Because it doesn't stop here!
Main Event Catering brought in a tantalizing pasta bar: choose your pasta, add your favorites -- mine was an addictive penne with mushrooms, smoked salmon and roasted red pepper, freshly tossed in a light cream sauce, doused and browned with my vice...asiago cheese on top. My date had a sausage and chicken on rotini with spicy red sauce and browned parmesan...all made to order! So Andy from Main Event Catering...how about a daily dinner at 6 pm, bring all your ingredients, who wants to join??
Incredibly...this wasn't even the most memorable part of the night! I got to sit with Patrick Purcell, Senior Marketing Manager of eXperticity, to hear a little about the rebranding of their company (detailed here) as well as the goals of their companies as they revel in the growth of their sports brand-based expertise here in the skiing mecca of Utah! eXperticity is committed to allowing retailers and brands reach their choice consumers on a knowledge and information based platform. As one of the children companies, 3point5 leverages a detailed training for sales people in the specific uses, creation, and goals of the product -- information to be passed onto the consumer in their quest for the perfect product -- guaranteed by a information test post-training before the sales begins! Approaching from the other side, ProMotive utilizes the availability of professionals (with skills to match) to wear or show the product in their field - exhibiting and explaining the effectiveness, appropriateness, and correct usage of the product while going about their normal business.

eXperticity has been growing at an astronomical rate - not surprising when you recognize the type of people the company is comprised of. Patrick, for instance, is dedicated and passionate, explaining the business with a constant smile and a excitement usually reserved for things outside of work. The business model is solid, with a focus on allowing people to do, and work on, things they love. (Sounds a lot like what we do...lucky us!!) While eXperticity is perfect for the sports brands that flourish in the wild outdoors of Utah, I can already tell they will continue to expand outside this market - using the best type of motivation: knowledge and expertise, to show people what their clients' brands are all about!
Thanks for the killer party, eXperticity!! We can't wait to host you again!!

After the sumptuous delight of the eXperticity party, I ran across the city to the Outdoor Retailers after party for Rottefella, hosted by Premier Event Services at an offsite location.
Rottefella, an amazing Norweigan Nordic Ski Binding company, was hosting their very first US launch party!! Launching their new "Freedom" binding here in Salt Lake City at the January 2012 Outdoor Retailers convention, they invited press, retailers and athletes to come rub shoulders, eat an incredible spread provided by Salt Lake City's very own Cosmopolitan Catering, and listen to indie rock -- before being sent home with a surprise treat, some extraordinarily comfortable ski socks (perfect, as I wore mine on the mountain the next day!)

Rottefella was welcomed to Salt Lake City with open arms, as we hosted and boasted their excellent equipment - here's to hoping Nordic Skiing is all the rage at OR next year!!

For one night, we sure blew them both out of the water!
As always, if you're interested in hearing (or seeing) more about our events, check out our Facebook Page! We have pictures, links to upcoming events, and information about how your next event can be one of our favorites ;)
We're always willing to talk, so look up out stellar staff and reach out!
Thanks for following, till next time!!
