Kristina & Tony

Huge congratulations to the darling bride and handsome groom Kristina and Tony, who held their wedding reception at Pierpont Place last Saturday evening!

Our venue took on a beautiful spring look for the occasion, with pink, white, and silver-blue décor and a bevy of gorgeous spring flower arrangements. Of course, you can't have a spring-themed wedding without the ultimate spring bloomer--peonies--which are currently out of season in the states, so we had them special ordered for our lovely bride all the way from Holland! (For anyone who ever doubted our dedication to fulfilling our brides' every wish, let this show you that we mean what we say!)

Despite all of the work we put into the decorations for the reception, all eyes were undeniably on the beautiful bride, who made an enchanting entrance in a gorgeous wedding gown! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL, don't you think?

Guests were in very high spirits as they enjoyed a delectable dinner of salad with a raspberry walnut dressing, Boursin mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus with lavender, Florentine stuffed chicken with green onion sauce, and pork tenderloin with orange jalapeño sauce. Now that’s a meal that would keep everyone coming back for seconds!
Those who were able to save room for dessert enjoyed the beautiful three-tiered wedding cake and a batch of cupcakes that both matched the spring décor with white pearls and light pink flowers made of frosting.

Premier Bar service featured a special (and downright delicious) “Cotton Candy Martini,” with a cranberry, pineapple and vodka concoction poured over sweet cotton candy. These amaaaazing martinis were garnished with edible dragonfly jewels, made by a friend of the bride! (Look closely at the photo below--can you see the tiny edible art on the edge of the glass? How cool!)

Family and friends enjoyed the food, the drinks, the music, and one another’s company as the ravishing bride and groom celebrated their marriage! A fabulous reception and party for a charming and lovable couple—what a perfect way to start a wonderful and happy life together!

As always, dear readers, thanks for following the excitement of Pierpont Place! We hope you enjoy these tidbits and photos from some of our favorite events! Remember that you can find more photos, more information, and more updates from us on our Facebook page, Twitter, and our website!

Until Next Time,
Pierpont Place

Making Memories in June-- Weddings, Corporate Parties, and Non-Profits, Oh My!

Dearest Readers,

I know, I know, we keep teasing you with our wonderful blog posts (for which I’m sure you all wait in eager anticipation) and then leave you hanging for months without sharing even a bit of all of the exciting events that Pierpont Place and Premier Event Services have hosted this year! I’m sure you’ve all been devastated these last few months without our updates and all of the incredible event photos, but don’t despair, my lovely readers—we’re back and blogging! And let me tell you…you’re in for a treat!!

There’s just something about the summer sun that inspires me to stay busy and have fun…and I guess I’m not the only one! Our flurry of events last week at Pierpont Place prove that summer is a great time to celebrate, have fun, and make memories! Being so busy isn’t anything new for us, but what we really love about the group of occasions last week is that they gave us a chance to show off the true versatility of our venue as we transformed the space from a non-profit awards dinner to a rockin’ corporate party to a chic wedding…all in just a few days! Do I have your attention yet? Let’s take a look at just a few examples of the summer fun going on at Salt Lake's Premier Event Venue!!

We were so honored to jump start our busy streak by hosting the Salt Lake Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for their 2012 Awards and Board Installation Banquet!

I’ll tell you, Salt Lake City, we sure are lucky—you would not BELIEVE all of the amazing women that live and work here in our midst. (We’re even luckier! Our owner Janice Boes was just named one of Utah’s Women to Watch!) NAWBO’s mission is to “propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide.” Sounds good to me! If there’s ever a right time to say it, this is it… GIRL POWER!

As the evening sun streamed in the windows at this simple yet elegant awards banquet, NAWBO kicked off its upcoming year by installing its board—including, by the way, Pierpont Place’s very own Janice Boes as the new President Elect! If you didn’t know before, you do now…she’s kind of a big deal.

Awards were given to a handful of inspiring women business owners: Celeste Gleave, President/CEO of FYVE STAR, Inc, received the 2012 Woman Business Owner of the Year Award in recognition of her business success and her commitment to giving back to women in her community. Two honoree awards were given to Julie Jakob and Mary Scott, and Karin Palle received the Rising Star Award. For more information about these awards and the amazing women who received them, see NAWBO’s press release! Ladies (and gentlemen too, I suppose!), these are the kind of women to look up to!

As we all enjoyed bar service and a delicious meal with (get excited) Girl Scout Cookies for dessert (YUM!), we also listened attentively to an inspiring speech from keynote speaker Dr. Susan Madsen, a professor of leadership and ethics at Utah Valley University. Dr. Madsen reminded us all that leadership comes from within and encouraged female leaders to use their experiences to empower and mentor others.

After all of the stories of growth, support, success and love from these beautiful and successful women, I’ve just got to give a shout out to all of you lovely ladies out there in cyberspace—take a minute to appreciate yourself and the inspiring women in your life!!

As soon as the last of the NAWBO attendees left Pierpont Place, our dedicated staff sprang into motion to transform the venue for the epic party scheduled for the next night. We pulled out ALL the stops for Verisk Health’s merrymaking, giving Pierpont Place a makeover with a modern, elegant, and tech-y theme. Picture this… soft blue lighting, glowing (and I don’t mean just shiny, literally glowing) coffee tables in secluded lounges, a top shelf open bar complete with “flair bartending” (just imagine bottles spinning and flying in the air), ice sculptures, a fountain with multicolored lights… are you impressed yet, or should I keep going? Just in case your imagination isn’t doing it justice, check out a couple of the photos we took that night!

You all know that I can’t talk about an event without talking about the food, and Verisk’s event hosted a full-on FEAST! I could have spend the whole night going from one table to the next just to sample their amazing hors d’oeuvres… paninis with salami, ham and turkey, beef tenderloin on crostinis, delicious meatballs covered in a tantalizing gorgonzola cheese, bacon-wrapped shrimp…and so, SO many more. (By the way, when I say “I could have spent the whole night eating hors d’oeuvres,” really what I mean is “I did spend the whole night eating hors d’oeuvres.”) I absolutely don’t regret it, except that it meant that I was too full to enjoy one of my favorites…the pasta bar, where you can choose your own pasta and your preferred toppings, and watch as the chef makes it sizzle right in front of you and serves it to you piping hot! Delightful!

As Verisk clients and employees ate, drank, and schmoozed amongst themselves, we all grooved to some fabulous live music by a hot local trio, and I got the opportunity to talk with Shane, one of Verisk’s marketing team. He explained (in layman’s terms, thank goodness!) that the Verisk Health provides software and analytical services to health insurance companies, and that the office located here in South Jordan deals specifically with payment accuracy and fraud prevention. I got to hear a little bit about Verisk’s recent acquisition of MediConnect Global (get the details here), a merging that will help Verisk to rebrand itself as more full-service in providing data, analytics, and risk management to its clients in the healthcare industry. It looks like the company is growing quickly, and clearly doing great work! Lucky for us, though, Verisk Health plays as hard as they work!

What a fantastic party—thanks Verisk! We hope you loved it as much as we did!!!

We stayed up late and had a great time that night, but we weren’t done yet! Congratulations to Alex Evans and Casey Krug, who celebrated their wedding ceremony and reception at Pierpont Place on Saturday, June 23rd!!! I’ve got to say, a cuter couple could not have been found in Salt Lake City on this day.

Our incredibly talented wedding coordinators worked with Casey (one of the most prepared brides ever!) to create a “shabby-chic” theme for the wedding… SO creative! Whitewashed doors flanked the altar, the seating chart was written on windowpanes, and there was an old-fashioned typewriter by the front door for guests to try their hand at writing sweet notes for the bride and groom (with no backspace key)!

The wildflower and white orchid table arrangements and the burlap table runners and chair ties gave the wedding and reception a carefree and fun feeling, and the atmosphere of the entire event was just plain happy!

The quirkiness and creativity didn’t end with the decorations…it extended to the ceremony itself! Included in the wedding party were the bride and groom’s dogs, who preceded the beautiful bride down the aisle to the tune of Michael Buble’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

At the reception, guests enjoyed the food at a taco bar with their choice of tofu or beef and toppings, and specialty drinks while playing board games (note to us: board game table, a huge hit!). Next, they were running around the venue using disposable cameras to complete the photography scavenger hunt and help the bride and groom capture the moments that the professional photographer might miss. All in all, an absolutely fabulous ceremony and reception for an adorable, happy, and very in-love couple.

Congrats to Casey and Alex, and thanks for letting us share your special day with you!
